Twitter made Bitcoin payments available in September 2021 via its tipping system. The social media platform also added a host of new payment options to its tipping jar on Wednesday, including Ether (ETH).

To receive ETH tips, users must enable the tipping features on the platform and add an Ethereum address in the dedicated section of the profile. An attempt to add an ENS domain address instead of a full alphanumeric adres was unsuccessful. This resulted in an error box that said punctuation was invalid.

Tips can be sent to Bitcoin via the Lightning Network. This sends payment through the Strike app. Twitter did not provide any additional information about tipping in ETH. Tips are currently only available to users with Android and iOS phones. Twitter claims that users retain 100% of tips they receive.
